What is PR?
The overall aim of public relations (PR) is to plan and implement the delivery of key information from public bodies, businesses, or voluntary groups to targeted audiences.
What do PR agencies do?
There are a wide variety of tasks carried out by PR agencies including:
Disseminating information to the public through the media - including national, local and stakeholder media
Developing the content of communications materials such as websites, leaflets, reports or mailshots
Providing strategic advice on communications to organisations. This includes defining the audiences the organisation needs to communicate with, developing key messages for each audience and identifying the best mechanisms by which to reach each audience
Advising on and managing major corporate events and launches
Liaising with advertising agencies on advertising campaigns
Liaising with graphic designers on corporate design and imagery
Advising on and managing corporate partnerships and sponsorships.
