FleishmanHillard has announced the appointment of Mark Mortell as Chief Global Client Leadership Officer, the next evolution of the firm’s Global Client Leader (GCL) initiative.

Under Mortell’s leadership, the FleishmanHillard Global Client Leadership Office will focus on meeting the unique demands of large and international clients and their businesses. FleishmanHillard aims to be the best agency in the world at ensuring service excellence, offering insight and experience, and delivering internationally networked support to complex businesses dealing with communications challenges.

“Mark has extensive experience leading teams and supporting clients across the globe,” said John Saunders, president and CEO, FleishmanHillard. “His ability to build relationships, solve problems and tap into our networks for talent, expertise and creativity make him the ideal person to take on this challenge and launch the GCL program to new heights.”

Over the last two years, the agency’s GCL initiative has expanded to include clients across technology, healthcare, consumer, manufacturing and industrials, energy, financial services and agribusiness industries with client leaders from EMEA, APAC and the Americas. This refreshed approach to developing global client leadership has impacted the agency’s largest clients in terms of consultative and service excellence, accessing and developing the best international talent and driving growth.

The GCL Office provides client teams with sophisticated and customized planning, analysis and resourcing tools, and works with account leaders to anticipate, identify and address the challenges of international clients. The GCL Academy, established in 2017, accelerates and cascades an advanced curriculum of learning to build expertise, develop skills and share knowledge among existing and emerging client relationship managers.

Mortell has been central to developing the GCL initiative. Since 2011, he has served as the global leader for OneVoice – a coalition of Omnicom agencies supporting global Health-Tech giant, Philips. He joined FleishmanHillard’s Dublin office in 2002, where he led the corporate and public affairs practice before adding international client work to his portfolio. He is a member of the agency’s leadership cabinet and has been part of the senior management team for a number of years. Prior to joining FleishmanHillard, he led marketing teams at Bank of Ireland Group, Guinness, Irish airline Aer Lingus and served a term as chairman of the Irish Tourist Board. Mortell has been a close adviser to the Taoiseach and government. His corporate communications and international expertise make him a sought-after media trainer, crisis counselor and corporate adviser.
